Community

BentTree was developed in the 1970s and became Bent Tree Community, Inc. (BTCI) in 1983 when property owners purchased the amenities and took control of the property. Bent Tree is governed by a nine member Board of Directors operating under a framework of Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions (CC&Rs), Bylaws, and Rules & Regulations.  BTCI is currently debt free.

BentTree is a Gated Community spanning 3,500 acres with approximately 1,100 developed properties. BTCI is not a developer.
 
Public Safety Department is stationed at the front entry gate and is manned continuously to enable entry by residents and invited guests. Residents may enter front or back gate via a keyless bar-code entry system. The unmanned back gate has camera surveillance.
  • First-responder emergency fire and medical assistance are on-site around the clock. Picken's County fire department and EMT services are located outside of Bent Tree, approximately one mile from the front gate.
Oglethorpe Mountain, one of five mountains inside Bent Tree, includes the highest elevation at 3,288 feet above sea level.

Road System includes fifty five miles of paved roads maintained by BTCI.

Private Water System is owned and maintained by BTCI, and meets or exceeds all federal, state and local water safety standards.

Architectural Coordinator assists with new construction and monitors ongoing compliance with established architectural standards.

Communications 
include the echo (monthly magazine), Bent Tree Bullets and Bent Tree Buzz         (e-mail notices), BTCI website (bent-tree.com), and bulletin boards dispersed throughout Bent Tree.

Standing Committees of the Board of Directors
are comprised of volunteers with specific skills and interests, and are established to help the Board to carry out its goals and mission.
 
Activities and Clubs are led by volunteers and offer a wide variety of recreational and social experiences for the enjoyment of residents and their guests.

Amenities 

Championship 18 Hole Golf Course designed by Joe Lee, includes Pro Shop operated by Class A PGA Professional, offering a full range of services, including lessons for all ages and skill levels.

Tennis Courts and Pro Shop operated by a Professional certified by USPTA and USPTR, offering a full range of services, including lessons for all ages and skill levels. Facility includes six courts (two indoor and four outdoor; clay and Laykold hard courts).

Equestrian Facilities offering lessons, boarding, trail rides, and arena rides.  All services are conducted by a certified stable master.

19th Hole Restaurant adjoining the golf pro shop offers full service dining and catering services.

Lake and Recreation area includes covered pavilion, (available for private parties), sand beach, playground, picnic tables, grills, shuffleboard, volleyball net, and basketball court.   Lake spans 110 acres, is 1,450 feet above sea level, measures 85 feet deep at the dam, is fed by numerous streams, is inhabited by bass and is stocked annually with trout. Boats with electric motors are allowed on the lake. Sail boats, pedal boats, canoes, and kayaks are popular. Racks are available for boat storage.

Hiking Trails within the community are maintained by volunteers and range from easy to strenuous.

Dog Park located near the back gate offers separate play areas for large and small dogs.

Swimming Pools include one large pool for family swimming and one smaller pool for quiet relaxation.

Club Tamarack may be reserved and is available for community events and private gatherings. The facility includes three separate venues to accommodate a variety of event requirements.    

Library, based on the honor system, is located near the front gate in what is known as The Cottage

Bent Tree Mail Center and Post Office Facility offers centralized mail handling by the United States Postal Service. Center also provides facility for intra-community mail exchange. 

Recreational Vehicle Storage is available at a BTCI owned storage area located outside of the main gate.
